Coming soon: The Dale Hurst Writing Show – Season 5

We’re pleased to announce that The Dale Hurst Writing Show, a writing podcast partnered with The Bournemouth Journal, is returning with its fifth season later this month.

The podcast, created and presented by novelist and MA Creative Writing and Publishing alumnus Dale Hurst, will bring a series of 10 brand-new episodes starting on Thursday 31 July.

Topics this year include:

  • World War II Stories – Dale talks with author and retired US Navy Chief Matt Hardman about their respective experiences writing work set in the Second World War.
  • The Dos and Don’ts of Character Development – author Iqbal Hussain joins the show to discuss what to avoid and what to do without fail when creating characters.
  • Influencers and Social Media Stars – award-winning screenwriter, director and filmmaker Max James Walker delves into the creative process behind his film, The Façade, which follows the on- and off-camera lives of a vlogger couple.
  • The Essentials of Interactive StorytellingThe Bournemouth Journal’s own Dr Bradford Gyori reunites with Dale to talk about one of his specialist subjects – interactive storytelling and immersing audiences in narratives.

As a new feature of the podcast for this season, Dale’s guests also reveal their desert island book, play, film or TV episode.

This series also celebrates The Dale Hurst Writing Show’s 50th episode, which promises a special twist in the format.

Season 5 of The Dale Hurst Writing Show begins on Thursday 31 July. Episodes will appear on The Bournemouth Journal website, but you can also Follow and listen directly on Spotify.
