The competition for 2025 entries is now open!

How to Enter

We enjoy supporting writers based in the Southwest of England or who write about themes close to our home and hearts, but our reach is global and our tastes eclectic, so writers from anywhere on the planet are encouraged to send us their very best work. Enter as many categories as you wish, as many times as you wish. The entry fee is £10 for either one short story up to 3,000 words in length, or up to three poems of up to 30 lines each.

Entering is a two-step process:

  1. Pay using the Eventbrite link you can find here. This will generate a unique registration code.
  2. Email your entry to us, attaching it as a separate Word document to your entry email, without your name on it. In the body of the email include your name and the order number that came along with your Eventbrite receipt.

Email to: bournemouthwritingprize@bournemouth.ac.uk

Entries for the Bournemouth Writing Prize will also be considered for publication in the Bournemouth Journal.

Any students and staff currently working on the Bournemouth Writing Prize and/or the Bournemouth Journal are ineligible to submit.

Please make sure that you have read and understood our terms and conditions.

Competition is now open to entries.
